crochet!

Today I was interested in learning how to  crochet so I went to Spotlight and the library.

At spotlight I  got a crochet starter book, hooks and some cotton wool.

(picture above)

the set came with 5 crochet hooks, a row counter and marker clips.

so far i’ve learnt how to crochet a chain stitch.

At the Library I got a book out called crochet for kids by Franziska Heidenreich its got lots of little easy projects to do, I think the crochet butterfly is the cutest one.

(I still need some practice but when I get the hang of it I will post what i’ve made!)

Quilt crazy!

This is a fun winter project to do. It will keep you warm and cosy in bed. Why don’t you try doing our home-sewn quilt?! It’s easy, all you do is gather bits of fabric with different patterns and colors. That’s step 1. Step 2 is sew them into rows and give each of the rows the same amount of patches in them. Then once you’ve got all of your patches in rows, then stitch all the rows together with the sewing machine. That’s step 3. Step 4 is find a big piece of fabric that will cover the whole back of the quilt. Lay it down on the floor with fuzzy cosy filling inside. Safety pin it all together. Step 5. Now sew some lines down the quilt, holding the back fabric and the stuffing inside. Step 6. Go and buy some bias binding and then stitch it around the edges of the quilt. And then voila! You’re done!
